Terms of use

The terms for using the SweetFrame frame, its software and this website.

Last updated: 21 October 2026 Draft, pending legal review

The most important pointSweetFrame is a photo frame. Its glucose display is for information only: it has not been tested or cleared as a medical device and is not intended to be used as one, it gives no alerts, and treatment decisions must never be based on it. See section 3.

1. Acceptance

These terms apply to the SweetFrame frame, the software on it and the website sweetframe.org, operated by TechRS [registered name, company or business number and postal address: to be completed in the legal review] (“TechRS”, “we”, “us”). By using the frame or the website you accept these terms. If you bought a frame, the terms of that purchase may also apply; where they conflict, the purchase terms prevail on the purchase and the product warranty. The Hebrew version of these terms is the binding one; this English version is provided for convenience.

2. What SweetFrame is

SweetFrame is a digital photo frame with a touch screen. It shows photos and short videos from a Google Drive folder that the family shares with it, together with the time, the weather, a calendar with birthdays, Shabbat and holiday times, family notes and, for those who choose it, a glucose reading from the family's own Nightscout site. Features vary between versions.

3. Glucose display: information only, not for medical use

4. Shabbat and holidays

The Shabbat and holiday modes (“information only”, “Shabbat screen”, “full Shabbat mode”) are convenience tools. SweetFrame has not been approved by any halachic authority for use on Shabbat or holidays, and we do not present it as suitable for that. Shabbat and holiday times come from Hebcal.com or are calculated on the frame; they may differ from your community's calendar, or be affected by a fault, a power cut or an unsynchronised clock. How to use the frame on Shabbat and holidays is your decision, and we recommend consulting a rabbi.

5. Third-party services

The frame works with services that are not ours: Google Drive and Google Calendar, Nightscout, MET Norway, Hebcal, calendar providers and others. Their use is subject to their own terms and policies, and they may change, stop or be unavailable. We are not responsible for those services, their availability or their content. You are responsible for your accounts, your passwords and the permissions you grant.

6. Your photos and content

The photos, videos, notes and information you add belong to you or to whoever uploaded them. You allow your frame to download and display them in order to provide the service to you, and for nothing else. We do not receive them (see the privacy policy). You are responsible for having the right to display the content and for respecting the privacy of the people in the photos, especially on a frame placed in a shared room.

7. Software licence

8. Updates and changes

The frame receives signed software updates, usually automatically at night. You can turn automatic updates off in the settings, but updates include security fixes, so we recommend keeping them on. An update may add, change or remove features. We intend to support frames for a long time, but we may in the future stop providing updates for a version or a frame. The frame depends on two things we operate: its Google identity, through which it reads your photos and calendar, and the update channel. If we stop operating them, the frame keeps showing the photos it already downloaded, but no new photos or updates reach it. [Minimum support period, advance notice, and a way to move the frame to the family's own Google identity: to be set in the legal review]

9. Acceptable use

Do not use the frame for unlawful content, to invade other people's privacy or to monitor anyone without their knowledge, and do not try to circumvent its security mechanisms or disrupt the update channel, subject to your rights under open-source licences (section 7).

10. Warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the website, and the information that reaches the frame from other services (including glucose readings, Shabbat times and weather), are provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that this information will be accurate, current or available, or that the frame will work without interruptions when those services are unavailable. The warranty for the frame itself as a product, including its software, is as provided by law and by the purchase terms [to be completed in the legal review]. Nothing in these terms limits consumer rights that cannot be waived by law.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages, for loss of data, or for damage caused by relying on information shown by the frame, in particular glucose readings or Shabbat and holiday times. If we are nevertheless liable, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the frame. The limitations in this section do not apply to death or bodily injury, to damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, to liability under Israel's Defective Products Liability Law, 5740-1980, to the statutory warranty for the product, or wherever else the law forbids limiting liability.

12. Privacy

How we handle information: privacy policy.

13. Ending use

You can stop using the frame at any time: unplug it, remove the shares and permissions you granted, and reset it. Sections 3, 4, 7, 10, 11 and 14 continue to apply after you stop using it.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. The competent courts in [venue to be set in the legal review] have jurisdiction, without limiting your right as a consumer to sue in the court where you live or other statutory consumer rights.

15. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. We will update the date at the top of this page and announce material changes on this website. A material change takes effect no earlier than 30 days after it is published and does not apply to anything that happened before. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. Questions: [email protected], TechRS [registered name, company or business number and postal address: to be completed in the legal review].
